Traveling Information about Poisonous Plants, Fruits and Vegetables For Your Pets

There are a lot of different plants, fruits and vegetables that are commonly found in homes that are potentially poisonous to your pet. Some of the plants need to be ingested to be poisonous to your pets, and others do not, so it is important to be aware of the different poisonous plants that could harm your pet.

· Grapes and raisins – these tasty fruits may not seem like they could be considered to be poisonous, but they are actually very dangerous to dogs, and have recently gotten a lot of attention in the media for being toxic to dogs. They can cause diarrhea, vomiting and even kidney failure to your dog.

· Lilies – these beautiful flowers may look great in your home and nice in a floral display, but they can be a danger to your kittens. Even eating a little bit of them can cause kidney damage to cats and dogs are also at risk to get ill by vomiting, diarrhea, depression or weakness.

· Lantana – this is a plant that is tough and produces green berries after it begins to flower. The berries is what are poisonous to your pets.

· Macadamia nuts – they are delicious to humans, but not so healthy for dogs. If your dog ingests even a small handful of them, it can disrupt their digestive tract and their muscle which sets off weakness and paralysis.

· Oleanders – this poisonous plant is popular in regions such as Arizona and California and even humans are encouraged to wear gloves when working with it because it can cause skin irritation. If you have a pet that has allergies, they too can be affected by it. If you dog chews on a part of the plant, it can cause them problems.

· Onions and garlic – common ingredients in homes but it is the sulfur content that it is found in these veggies that can cause gastronomical upset in your pets.

· Pointesettia – this is one of the most well known poisonous plants that can be found seasonally in homes. Your pet can get ill from this plant, so be careful where you put it.

Make sure that your pets are not able to get into or around any of these items in your home.
