Panama is the southernmost country of both Central America and, in turn, North America. It is has it border with Costa Rica in the northwest, towards the south east is Columbia, the Caribbean Sea to the north and towards the south is the Pacific Ocean. The capital is Panama City. The Climate of Panama is tropical. Temperatures are high and it is quite humid but this can vary slightly from season to season. Since it is so humid in Panama, there is an abundance of plants. Nearly 40 percent of Panama is covered with rainforests.
One of the most famous attractions of Panama is the Panama Canal. This structure is mainly popular because of its incredible technology from the time it was built. The Canal is a man-made structure that connects the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. It was the largest and most difficult engineering projects ever undertaken. The Panama Canal allows boats and other shipping equipment to take a shorter route than traveling around South America back up eastern North America. If a ship were to travel from San Francisco, CA to New York, NY not using the Canal, it would be 14,000 miles (22,500 km) instead of 6,000 miles (9,500 km) with the Panama Canal.
For a person who would like to go to Panama and admire the scenery as well as the famous landmarks, they would most likely have to use an airplane. As usual, the JFK airport in New York will be our example. So, traveling from JFK to the Panama City-Bay International Airport (PSY) in Panama, it would cost a person about $325 for a one-way, one person, coach seating and one stop trip. Overall, that is a decent price. The price for one ticket to Panama is close to the same as traveling across all of America.
