Six Ways to Bargain Shop in China

When you are traveling abroad, how can you be sure you are getting the most for your money? There are six things you should be keeping an eye out for:

Haggling on Prices

Keep in mind that big name department stores and malls will not haggle about their prices. Look for stores with sale bargains at these places. If you want to haggle, look for specialty shops that allow for this.

Avoid Staring

Chinese salespeople can be pretty antagonistic, so if you find a product you like, look quickly so you aren't hounded by these folks. Once you get their attention, they don't let up.

Look, Don't Touch

Many products can be quite delicate. You may want to touch these items, but if they get broken in the process, any chance you have for haggling on the price is history. The best policy is…don't touch!

Bargain On Products You Want

Don't haggle about a product you aren't sure that you want. If you ask for a certain price and the retailer goes along with it, then you should buy it for that price. If you don't buy it for that price, you can get into some trouble.

How to Bargain

If you notice that a product's price is $10, don't offer the retailer $1. They have to make a living too. Make any haggle offer sound appealing to them as well as to your pocketbook.

Buying Certain Products

When you notice a high priced item, make sure you know if it is authentic or not. Many products can be knock-offs and you certainly don't want to pay more for something fake. You could also get into trouble at customs.

Preparing for Showers – During spring and summer, it’s not unusual for rain to suddenly occur. Make sure you are prepared with some sort of raingear. If skies look like rain while you are out and about, turn back to the hotel. If you are unprepared and stuck in the rain, many park stores will sell rain ponchos.

FastPass –
This is a timesaving pass that can keep you from waiting in long lines. All you have to do is slide your pass into a machine and the ticket is printed out that allows you to come back to a ride with little wait time.

Theme Park – Be sure you allow time to get to the parks. It’s not hard to miss reservations if time is not set aside for problems.

Be Impulsive – You don’t always have to follow your list. If you want to do something, do it. You don’t want to pass up the chance to see something good.

Limits For Children – Remember that children do get tired. You’ll have to give them a break. Let them sit down if their feet hurt. Some rides may scare them. Don’t force them to ride any of them that do.

Keeping In Touch – If you are going to split up, you should bring a way to keep in touch with you. One of the more popular ways is a cell phone.

Footwear – Bring at least two pairs of shoes you can rotate out. You don’t want blisters on the first day out.

Do you want to see Cuba’s biggest export being processed? Then visit the sugar cane fields by steam train or stroll through a sugar mill. These give you an up close look at how sugar cane turns into the products you eat.

Cayo Coco Hotels and Entertainment
